Breathe the
upper air.ऐथर

Two luxe cottages above Old Manali, where the waterfall, the river and the Himalaya do most of the talking.

01 — Choose your stay

Two cottages,
one upper air.

02 — The idea

We named them for the old idea that the air up high is different — clearer, brighter, the kind the gods were said to breathe. You'll feel it the moment the road runs out and the deodars take over.

AETHER is built for slow days: long coffees on the balcony, the sound of Jogni in the distance, nowhere in particular to be.

03 — The view (shared)

The thing both look out at.

Jogni Waterfall, Vashisht
01

Jogni Waterfall

Our soundtrack. A ~150-foot cascade sacred to the village goddess Jogini, a gentle walk-and-trek up from Vashisht through apple orchards.

The valley of the Beas
02

The Beas

The river threads the floor of the valley below; the light changes it hourly.

The Pir Panjal at dawn
03

The Himalaya

On clear mornings the Pir Panjal shows itself. Coffee gets cold while you watch.

Karan & Kavya, the hosts of AETHER
— Karan & Kavya
04 — The hosts

AETHER is kept by Karan, a filmmaker who came for a shoot and never quite left, and Kavya, who makes sure everything actually works.

Between them they'll point you to the quiet trails, the good coffee, and the café with the best seat by the river.
